About

Jeremy Ball is a Canadian visual effects supervisor and filmmaker native of Victoria, British Columbia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pacific & Asian Studies from University of Victoria. He spent more than a decade in the People’s Republic of China. From 2004 to 2007, he completed an Master of Arts degree in Film Studies at the Beijing Film Academy. At the same time, he worked worked in the art and visual effects departments of numerous productions including John Curran's The Painted Veil, Mark Forster's The Kite Runner, and Rob Minkoff's The Forbidden Kingdom. From 2008 to 2011, he worked as an Onset Visual Effects Supervisor for Base FX. He attended the Canadian Film Centre’s Directing Lab in 2011. His first short film, Sync, was completed in 2011 and premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival’s One Reel Festival. His follow up, Frost, completed as part of the Canadian Film Centre’s short dramatic film program, was nominated for Directors Guild of Canada and Canadian Screen Awards in 2013. In 2013, he directed and wrote The Archivist, a short film celebrating the centennial of Toronto's historic Eglin & Winter Garden Theatre Centre, and directed the fourth episode of Vincenzo Natali’s digital series, Darknet. In 2016, he was a Visual Effects Supervisor on the firest season of American Gods. In 2017, he joined MYTH VFX as a Visual Effects Supervisor working on multiple Chinese language feature film projects.
