About

Anthony Wong Chau-Sang (Chinese: 黃秋生, born Anthony Perry on September 2, 1961) was born to a British father and a Chinese mother. He never knew his father, since the man left his family when Wong was four years old. He trained acting at ATV and later enrolled into the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. After working in several TV Series, he shot to stardom with hits such as "Hard-Boiled", "When Fortune Smiles", and his Golden Horse-winning performance in the horrific "The Untold Story", directed by Herman Yau. In 1995, he made his directorial debut with the film "New Tenant". In 1996, Wong and Yau teamed up again with a cult class horror film "Ebola Syndrome". He won his second Hong Kong Film Award for his role as the corrupt police officer Tung in the critically acclaimed "Beast Cops" (1998). Wong continued his success in roles in films such as the "Young and Dangerous" franchise, "The Mission" (1999), "Infernal Affairs" (2002), "Initial D" (2005), "Exiled" (2006), "Secret" (2007), "Ip Man: The Final Fight" (2013), "Still Human" (2018), and "The Sunny Side of the Street" (2022). With nearly 300 screen credits to his name, Anthony Wong Chau-Sang is one of the most versatile and prolific actors in world cinema.
